Facilitating Effective Learning at the Window on America Center in Lutsk!


On May 29, 2013 the Window on America Center in Lutsk hosted a creative meeting for the 20 teachers of English language from local and regional schools.
 
The aim of the meeting was to create possibilities for developing and improving teachers’ practical and theoretical courses using the WOA Center resources.



A wide variety of learning and teaching resources is readily available.


During the presentation the audience learned about the ways in order to implement modern technology in the classroom.



The meeting helped teachers to gain access to knowledge and information that were needed in the process of teaching, mainly:

types of learning and teaching resources;

strategies for effective resources development;

guidance on how resources can be effectively used with examples of good practice.







We can say for sure that the Window on America Center resources play a significant and pivotal role in the process of teaching!

Don’t Miss an Invaluable Opportunity to Attend the WOA Center Information Day at the Library!


On May 29, 2013 the WOA Center took part at the Information Day that was organized at the Volyn Research library.



The main objective of that day was to raise awareness of the resources of the Center and to attract more visitors to the Center.


It is also aims to help people to get up to date information about the United States of America.




The visitors (about 25 people) were proposed to look through the audio and DVD materials, board games, Rosetta Stone - the world's best language- learning program.

Let's Do Tourism in Lutsk - Round Table Discussion at the WOA Center.



On May 26, 2013 a group of people gathered at the Center to hahe a meeting which focused on the question of developing tourism in Lutsk.



The discussion was led by Terry Mattison, American Peace Corps Volunteer in Lutsk.

 

 The present audience had a great opportunity to discuss problems, think about possible solutions to those problems.




 A group of ideas were presented and discussed with the participants. 

 
All participants agreed that Lutsk has to be branded as on common attractive tourist and cultural destination. The city that is worth seeing and visiting..

Weekend Tour of the Old City of Lutsk!


On May 19, 2013 Terry Mattison, American Peace Corps Volunteer in Lutsk, conducted an English language Tour of the old City of Lutsk - one of the oldest cities in Central and Eastern Europe.


The members of the Club really went back in time. We started at the Theatre Majdan, went along Lesja Ukrainla Street to the old part of the city. 
 

 
Terry Mettison led the excursion and helped to realize the beauty and the charm of the city. The working language was English.




The participants in the tour – the people of Lutsk, tourists, visitors of the Window on America Center in Lutsk appreciated the history and traditions of that city on the banks of the Styr River.

The tour lasted for about two and a half hours and the people could discover the pleasure of a holiday atmosphere, Voilyn’s beauty.



Thank you Terry for interesting and informative excursion. The weekend tour allowed the audience to spend quality time. It proved that Lutsk is a city with Ukrainian sincerity, Volyn heart and European Soul. The city that is worth seeing.

Ukrainian Librarians Learn about American Libraries!


On May 16, 2013 a group of Ukrainian Librarians from Volyn region gathered at the Window on America Center in Lutsk to make a virtual travel to the United States of America and to learn about:  
  • Northwestern University Library,
  •  the Library of Ukrainian Consulate,
  • the Schaumburg District Library,
  •  the public library in Chicago.




The meeting was designed so that the audience could learn mere about the system of exchange between libraries, the new system of book ordering and indexing and new ways of handling old and rare editions
