The WOA Center in Lutsk Center Joined the World in Celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Taras H Shevchenko’s Birth!



March 2014 marks the 200th birthday of Ukrainian poet and artist, Taras Shevchenko, whose literary works are regarded as the foundation of the modern Ukrainian language.



The librarians introduced Shevchenko topics, spoke about the specific significance of his goals, read his poems in different languages English, French, Ukrainian, German.






About 30 people joined the event of poetry in celebration of  Shevchenko’s lasting impact on national conscience.

There’s no doubt that Taras Shevchenko is Ukraine’s most illustrious poet and the best-known Ukrainian poet abroad. There are monuments to him in Paris, in downtown Washington near DuPont Circle, and in numerous municipalities in Ukrainianheavy Canada.










Within the event there was also exhibition honoring the 200th Anniversary of Taras H. Shevchenko " Taras H. Shevchenko and the World."
