Learning about the Tolerance at the WOA Center in Lutsk.



On September 28, 2014 the Window on America Center in Lutsk hosted a meeting focused on messages of tolerance.

An Ukrainian volunteer Kulesha Iruna started these meetings with Window on America Center Visitors.
The opportunity to use multimedia tools gave great chance for the visitors to be presentation the presentation “The highest result of education is tolerance.” It helped the present audience to learn that we are one world, as they explored diversity, stereotypes, positive race relations, and respect.








The leader of the meeting used different strategies (educative games. discussions, work in groups etc.) to provide us with opportunities to reflect upon ways in which we can build a stronger, more inclusive community.. 





At the end of the meeting the audience made the conclusion that the continuance of  series of lecture on tolerance will help promote tolerance, justice, and respect among visitors of the library, Window on America Readers – American and Ukrainian audience.

Make Language Learning More Engaging at the Window on America Center in Lutsk!



On September 24, 2014 the WOA Center took part at the Information Day that was organized at the Volyn Research library.

  
The main objective of that day was to raise awareness of the new arrivals to the Center and to attract more visitors. It is also aims to help people to get up to date information about the United States of America.


The visitors were proposed to look through the books, audio materials, activities to develop speech and language skills.
 





 
 During that day audience seeking
 information about U.S. political 
processes, America society, culture,
 etc. got acquainted with newly 
received literature!

The Window on America Center in Lutsk Center: a Significant Resource Center for Teaching, Learning, Discussing and Debating!



On September 23, 2014 the Window on America Center in Lutsk started series of meetings for the  teachers of English language from local and regional schools.

During the first day of meeting the audience learned about the latest collection of English language learning and teaching resources at the Center.


The focus was made on the resources that help educators in becoming more familiar with modern technologies associated with teaching and learning English language, mainly:



types of learning and teaching resources;


modern technologies in teaching and learning English;


guidance on how resources can be effectively used.



Of great interest among the teachers were lectures on the following topics:

  • Raising intercultural tolerance at school;

  • Civil formation of the pedagogical process;

  • The use of multimedia educational tools and modern technologies that provide intense and meaningful practice of language in the classroom.




The results of the meeting suggested that the acquaintance with numerous resources, modern
 technologies can be used for the useful practice and review of language lessons.


Meetings for English language teachers will continue to be held at the Window on America Center in Lutsk!

Welcome to Use Innovative and Fun Ways of Learning the English Language and Culture at the Window on America Center in Lutsk!



On September 18, 2014 the meeting brought together the group of pupils (27) who believed Window on America Center in Lutsk is the place where everyone could learn English Language and Culture in different ways. 

During the meeting the audience learned about the latest collection of English language learning and teaching resources at the Center,  played educational games and learned English.



The presented recourses presented attracted the audience who enjoyed old classics like Monopoly, 10 Days in the USA, UNO and motivated people to learn through fun practice.




Of great interest among the visitors were modern technologies that provided intense and meaningful practice of language in the classroom and at home:
1.      board games;
2.      language learning programs;
 3.     the audio books;
 4.     audio language courses.


The results of the meeting suggested that the acquaintance with the WOA Center numerous resources can be used for the useful learning of English language.







Welcome to the Meeting Devoted to the Film Industry in the USA !



On September 17, 2014 the Window on America Center in Lutsk hosted a meeting dedicated to the American films history.
 The event  was not only an occasion for WOA Center users (17 students) to gather and view the best American movies but also to have great chance to participate in lovely discussion.





During the meeting there was presented an up-to-date history of many aspects of American film, such as acting, directing, editing. 







 The event brought filmlovers and Window on America Center audience together.




In the frame of the meeting the  students were proposed to watch an American biographical drama film -  The Pursuit of Happyness (2006) and discuss it.

Paper Show Closes Series of Events “"11 September 2001: America Under Attack »”.



During a weeks more than 30 people came to the Volyn Research Library mainly to the Window on America Center in Lutsk to reflect about the tragic events of September 11, 2001.


New Images and other printed resources on the Morning of September 11, 2001 helped the visitors to learn more about series of attacks upon the United States of America on that day.

       
The exhibition of posters "11 September 2001: America Under Attack »showed  the first pages of famous magazines of America, France, Bulgaria, Japan, the United Kingdom, where people all over the world could learn about the  tragedy of September 11, 2001.






In addition presented books, audio materials helped to find information about the concept of global terrorism.
