Window on America Center in Lutsk for Volunteer Services and Social Activities!
Today, the Center became a platform for the implementation of social initiatives of Volyn pupils.
The Center visitors had a great opportunity to fulfill their ideas and to present the projects about the history of Volyn Region .
The long history of the Center’s events includes various initiatives, and projects, which gave important experience, language practice and became a basis for the creation of the Debate Club.

Їх люб’язно за свої кошти надіслало зі Сполучених Штатів Америки подружжя – Михайло Іванович Герець та його дружина Алла Кузьмівна Легка-Герець. Серед книжок – „Історія України-Руси” Михайла Грушевського в 10 томах (Нью-Йорк, 1954), „Твори” Івана Франка у 20 томах (Нью-Йорк, 1956), „Твори” Лесі Українки у 12 томах (Нью-Йорк, 1953), „Твори” Тараса Шевченка в 14 томах (Чикаго, 1962), „Словарь украинского язика” (Київ, 1907, репринтне видання 1958).

“Engaging Students in the Class”

On Friday, October 18, 2019 the Window on America Lutsk Center held an
Marie Snider, English Language Resident at the America House, led the session and shared strategies and ideas.



“Engaging Students in the Class” workshop for English language teachers.
Our main aim for this workshop was to equip the teachers with an understanding of how to keep interactive in the classroom.
Also the audience learned about the latest collection of English learning and teaching resources.
The focus was made on the resources that help educators in becoming more familiar with modern technologies associated with teaching and learning English language.
The meeting was a great way to get ideas how to engage students in the learning process, find available resources to make school fun!

Debate Club at the Window on America Center!





The Club is always supported by a native-speaker (Peace Corp Volunteer Scott Ludwig) who is an active participant in the conversation;
By participating in the Debate club, the Center visitors canl learn skills such as communication, leadership, and argumentation.
.

At the club the audience took part at a series of lectures, interactive sessions, and an end-of-the-year debate meeting among the students.

It's a great way to practice public speaking, construct arguments and exercise reasoning while working with friends.

Exploring the ‘Learn to Discern’ media literacy programme at the Window on America Center in Lutsk


 In the frame of a four day program facilitated by education organisation, IREX, local teachers visited  the Volyn Library  in order to expand their knowledge and practice in media literacy. Iryna Baranregional coordinator in Lutsk led the workshop.

The present audience was able to spend time exploring the ‘Learn to Discern’ program, experiencing some of the lessons and considering how they might implement some of the techniques, approaches and activities in our own practice.

Each week, this game skills group meet at Volyn Research Library and start with educative games.

Every Sunday at 2.30 PM the Window on America Center Lutsk gathers movie lovers. Film Club is open to the public who meet to watch and discuss American movies.
The American Peace Corp Volunteer – Vladimir Leontiev – leads the Club, explains new vocabulary and has lively conversations about movies.

Today groups of pupils from local schools visited the Center in the frame of Summer Camp Program.

Summer visit to the Library is a great way for kids to build skills, discover new interests, meet friends and have fun! 
American Peace Corp Volunteer – Vladimir Leontiev – joined the meeting and made the process of learning more interesting, unusual and effective.
The present audience had sufficient oral practice in the use of the Language.

A Day of Films and Activities Designed for Movie Lovers!


 Film Day in the frame of Summer Camp Program is a great event and a wonderful way for children to come to the Window on America center in Lutsk, select from DVD collection an educational movie, to watch it and discuss it.
The WOA Center Staff talked about the numerous programs, meetings and clubs. The main emphasis was made on the programs that help people to practice English with native speakers, Peace Corp Volunteers. 
The audience learned much that one could find in the Center.
The event brought together film lovers, pupils, teachers at the Window on America Center in Lutsk !!!!.

The Window on America Center Visits!


 A group of students from Pedagogical College visited the Volyn Research library to become the WOA Center visitors, to learn about many materials on just about every topic.
 The audience explored the WOA Center resources designed to enhance knowledge of the United States of America.

The main part of the meeting was devoted to programs that help people to practice their English with native speakers.




The pupils learned much that one could find in the Center, its services, etc.

Dungeons and Dragons Club Brings New Faces to the Library!


 March 27, 2019 the Window on America Center in Lutsk started a new Club - Dungeons and Dragons Club.

The members created the characters and embarked on adventures. The American Peace Corp Volunteer Nelson Louis Rickman led the Club, described the game with the reference to storytelling. 
Scot Ludwig and Vladimir Leontiev, Peace Corp Volunteers, joined the audience and encouraged the audience to coordinate and plan as a team.

Exhibit Opening in Lutsk WOA Center: "Where the Rivers Come Together".



Pupils attended the opening reception for the exhibit at the Center of March 20, 2019.




"Where the Rivers Come Together" is a photography and writing project by Gabriela Bulišova and Mark Isaac that explores the surprising diversity that exists in Mykolaiv, Ukraine, which is home to as many as 133 different national communities.


It is a great occasion at the library when exhibit encourages the viewers to feel the art!

The exhibit "Where the Rivers Come Together" is a free event and all are welcome to attend!

Engaging pupils in English Language Learning!



In the frame of English Language week a group of pupils visited the Window on America Center and participated in the class.


The lesson was devoted to information about the USA, interesting facts, symbols, etc. The informative lecture was integrated into discussion followed by numerous activities and learning moments.
