The Window on America Center in Lutsk Hosted a Workshop for the Ukrainian English language competition Participants.

In the frame of Ukrainian English language competition the Window on America Center in Lutsk hosted a two day workshop for the participants of that contest.




The lecturer from Volyn National University – Svitlana Horbach – instructed the pupils on the various aspects of English language:
  • Grammar
  • Lexicology
  • Essay writing
  • Communication skills.





During the presentation the audience was informed about the latest collection of English language learning resources at the Center.




We believe that the WOA Center resources will be helpful and will bring them luck!

Making Donations to WOA Center in Lutsk Collection!



The last winter week started with a pleasant surprise - a former English teacher, a compulsive reader of the Window on America Center - Kovalchyk Volodumur - presented a collection of English language periodicals from 5 continents of the world.


The materials contain information from different countries of the world, mainly United States of America, Ukraine, Republic of Zimbabwe, Poland, Guyana, South Korea, Taiwan, Australia, etc.

 Many items in the collection of periodicals arouse interest among the first visitors of the day.

“Romantic” Events on St. Valentines Day at the WOA Center in Lutsk!

During these days the series of events were organized at the Center devoted to St. Valentines Day Celebration. 


The present audience was proposed to attend the presentation about the background of the holiday, its symbols. It was followed by lovely and informative discussion.


Of great interest was the part of the meeting  devoted to the Romantic Couples that had kept love alive throughout history (Marie and Pierre Curie, Mark Antony and Cleopatra, John Lennon and Yoko Ono, Bonnie and Clyde, Bred Pitt and Angelina Jolie etc.).

During the second part of the meeting, speaking activities on the topic of Saint Valentine’s Day were prepared by the pupils. They discussed relationships, healthy\unhealthy marriages, commented on the love quotations.



In addition to organized meeting the book exhibition «Saint Valentine’s Day» illustrated the information about that holiday. Of great interest were books on that topic, readings, exercises that contained information about traditions and customs of that holiday in the United States of America and the world.


The events were held in the atmosphere of lovely communication combined with the American traditions.

The “Virtual Travel to the USA” Attracted Pupils to the Window on America Center in Lutsk.

On February 09, 2015 in the frame of the English Language Week Program the Window on America Center in Lutsk hosted a meeting to pupils from Gymnasium # 14. 

In order to enhance the pupil’s interest in learning English different activities were held during the meeting:
  • presentation “A Virtual Travel to the United Sates of America”;
  • books exhibit presenting up-to-date information about the United Sates of America;
  • Question&Answers.



During the presentation the present audience learned about:
    1.  the geographical position of the USA;
    2. brief history of the country;
    3. the national symbols (the America flag, the Bald Eagle, the Liberty Bell, The Statue  of Liberty);
    4. the most important facts about the capital city of the US – Washington D.C, its well known  places of interest.



At the end of the presentation the “Virtual Travel to the USA the pupils had a great opportunity to ask questions and get full answers on the topics they were interested.


The feedback was positive and the pupils were active in the discussion after the presentation.
It showed that the event was a success in respect of pupils’ participation and response.

The Window on America Center in Lutsk Attracted Students Interested in Studying in the USA!

On February 02, 2015 the students from National University, schools expanded their knowledge on Education USA and discussed the key points about issues related to international education and exchange opportunities.





The presentation "Enter to U.S. Universities: how succeed in the accession process and financial aid " was led by Andrew Hatalyak, the Director of OSVITA Educational Advising Center.


During the informative presentation the main emphasis was made on the following topics:
  • the US system of education and the process of entering to universities and colleges in the USA,
  • the possibility of receiving financial aid from universities, international organizations and private foundations, finding courses or curricula in universities and colleges in the United States of America;
  • information about study materials for preparation for the tests, etc.


The exhibition of  newly arrived books on the topic “Education in the USA” attracted attention of the present visitors.





At the end of the meeting the present audience asked questions about education in the USA and got profound answers.
            

The individual talks with Andrew Hatalyak, the Director of OSVITA Educational Advising Center were of great help for the visitors!
